This is a complimentary service we offer to safeguard secondary market buyers/sellers against inaccurate descriptions of condition and originality as well as verify authenticity. A certificate of authenticity and a 0-100% rating is estimated by MKT on cosmetics and mechanics. MKT will sharpen at no charge and return to owner. MKT will be responsible for the knife while in our possession. All shipping, insurance and any lost or missing claims made to a carrier are the sole responsibility of the customer.
Many secondary market sales never happen because potential buyers are leery of private party sales. Condition, authenticity and functionality are often a source of mistrust or mismanaged expectations or are flat out misrepresented by unscrupulous sellers, spoiling it for the vast majority of honest people. We will erase these concerns for a very minimal fee. This service includes the authenticity inspection previously outlined
How it works:
Seller sends knife in (with the agreed sales price) as a condition of sale for our authentication.
MKT does the “FCRP” services and holds the knife “in escrow” on behalf of both the buyer and the seller.
MKT ships the knife directly to the buyer after the buyer verifies payment and the seller confirms receipt of payment. The final transaction must be confirmed with MKT before we will release the knife to the buyer. BOTH parties must verify via email the following: Buyer CC’s MKT proof of payment and the seller must email us with consent to release.
If the buyer verifies payment of funds and MKT receives no confirmation from the seller, then MKT will hold the knife for 30 days and then release the knife to the buyer. In the event seller does not receive funds and the buyer shows proof of payment, then the buyer and seller must resolve payment and mutually consent to terms as well as notify MKT upon agreement. Knives will not be returned to either party without resolution of payment and written confirmation from both parties.
If a sale falls through while a knife is in MKT possession, the knife will be returned to seller.
This is a full-service disassembly of knife, deep clean, reassembly and replacement of hardware as needed, followed by sharpening. Tuning, bending, centering, carbidizing, sharpening and all manner of functionality will be brought back to as close to new spec as possible. Standard wear and tear to mechanics and finishes will be left, unless unsafe, and your knife will be returned with a certificate of service completed and in its used patina. Major missing or damaged components will be assessed on a case by case basis and dealt with at the discretion of MKT. Customers will be notified as needed or if charges MAY apply for needed replacement of major components. For example: non-original condition or damaged and beyond safe repair major parts.
This is nothing short of your knife being born again. The only variable here is sculpted scales may have features that CAN’T be redone, in which case a consultation with options will be provided. Customers should also note that the restored colors will be matched as closely as possible to originals but should expect variation from pre-resto colors as this is all done by hand and eye. Included is the full IRRAN process with the addition of the following services:
Solid anno finishes redone
PVD finishes redone
Hardware replaced as needed (finishes may vary from batch to batch in hand-making, so minor variations in brightness, tone or surface finishes should be expected).
Stone washed or blasted surface finishes redone.
Blade surface finishes/coatings redone (excluding Vulcan).
This is the big Kahuna…we can reconfigure your knife (within limits) at this level. This is the equivalent of the Resto-mod trend in cars. Change colors, add sculpting, texturing, lasering, change or add custom hardware options, in addition to all the other services in the IRRAN and Restoration packages. We won’t be able to do blade swaps or steel changes at this level but there is a huge pallet of things to choose from to take a model you already own and make it like no other.
