The Medford Waki S is the short version of the Waki line — a fixed blade that bridges Medford's tactical roots with the aesthetic language of traditional Japanese bladed weapons. The blade is a modified tanto profile, ground with a flat primary bevel on the main face and a distinct secondary convex grind near the spine, producing a two-tone visual where brushed satin steel meets a darker stonewashed upper section. A Medford dragon medallion is etched into the ricasso, one of the more ornate blade markings in the Medford catalog.
The handle is a full tsuka-style cord wrap — black ito over a tan/gold same (ray skin or synthetic same substitute) foundation, with diamond-shaped exposed windows that reveal the underlying material in the traditional katana pattern. The wrap terminates at a steel habaki-style collar above the ricasso. The sheath is black leather with a Medford coin snap — a deliberate departure from the kydex platform carry standard on most Medford fixed blades, matching the knife's Japanese aesthetic. The Waki S is the compact sibling to the Waki L (Long), both representing a distinct design direction within the Medford archive.

Handle: traditional Japanese tsuka cord wrap — black ito over tan/gold same, diamond exposed windows. Collar: steel habaki-style guard. Sheath: black leather with Medford coin snap (not kydex). No WP post ID assigned yet — requires knife-models CPT entry before archive push. Discontinued.
