The Medford Praetorian Genesis G is a compact yet robust everyday carry (EDC) folding knife, designed to offer a substantial feel without being overly cumbersome. It features a beefy 3.375-inch blade, typically crafted from premium CPM S35VN or CPM-3V stainless steel, known for its durability and edge retention. The blade often sports a tumbled or PVD finish, complemented by an aggressively notched thumb rest and milled thumb grooves for secure, ambidextrous one-hand opening. Its design incorporates dual stops that lock securely against the frame, providing superior strength and resistance against sideways torque. The handle, measuring 4.50 inches when closed, combines a G10 front scale with a tumbled titanium lock side, ensuring a sturdy grip and reliable frame lock mechanism. A heavy-duty glass breaker and a titanium pocket clip mounted at the butt end further enhance its utility, making it a versatile tool for various tasks.

The Praetorian Genesis G holds a unique place in Medford's lineup, being the original intended size for the Praetorian design. According to Medford, the full-sized Praetorian was initially produced due to a "printing fluke" that unexpectedly took the knife world by storm. The Genesis G was conceived as the ideal "middle ground" for knife enthusiasts, offering a substantial yet manageable size. All Praetorian variants, including the Genesis G, are equipped with a D2, NP3 coated tempered-glass breaking pommel, a feature rigorously tested by Medford for dependability and functionality. Medford emphasizes that this breaker is a critical emergency lifesaving feature, and no variations in its material or form are made, underscoring its utilitarian purpose over ornamental appeal.
