Neck Knife
Story
The Medford Neck Knife is one of the most distinctive fixed blades the company produced — a fully skeletonized, scaleless design cut from a single piece of steel. There are no handle scales, no fasteners, no separate components: the entire knife is one monolithic piece of milled steel with aggressive cutouts through the handle section that reduce weight, create natural finger channels, and expose just enough steel for a secure grip. The result is a knife that is simultaneously minimal in mass and maximal in strength, since the full-tang construction — the tang being the entire knife — cannot delaminate or loosen under stress.
The blade is a compact chisel-edged design with a forward quillon to index the grip, and the handle silhouette incorporates a thumb ramp, a rear quillon, and multiple lanyard attachment points built directly into the skeletonized structure. Medford offered it in two finishes: a DLC/PVD black coating for corrosion resistance and visual concealment, and a brushed satin bare steel. The carry system was purpose-designed for the knife: a small kydex sheath with an MKT-branded dog-tag bead on the retention cord, meant to be worn under a shirt on a paracord lanyard or lashed into MOLLE kit. The total carried footprint is roughly the size of a dog tag.
