Sawnto

Originally created for our friend Craig Sawyer, this fixed blade beast is an amazingly lightweight easy-carry multipurpose knife. An aggressive double row of alternate-staggered teeth on the back edge of the blade makes for an awesome operators knife. This hybrid drop point American-style bellied tanto has a flat-ground nose, a hollow-ground main edge, hollowed out handles for different wrench sizes and improvisational grabbing uses, and a crowbar at the end. The aeronautics-inspired lightening groove on the blade combined with the skeletonized handle allow for an extremely lightweight tool. While the Sawnto has a complex design that requires challenging machine and hand work, it maintains a simple, primitive and elegant simplicity. Functionality, originality, and useful coolness are what this knife is all about.

The Medford Sawnto was first unveiled at the Blade Show in June 2013, developed specifically for Navy SEAL Craig "Sawman" Sawyer, who intended to use it in his television projects. The initial prototype featured S35VN steel with a primitive Vulcan finish. However, the production model transitioned to D2 Tool Steel, with plans to refine the aggressive sawback teeth for a more 'camp shore friendly' application.

Over its production run, the Sawnto was offered with different handle materials, including OD Green G-10 and Black Textured G10, and typically featured a black oxide blade coating. The model has since been discontinued, as indicated by multiple retailers like Blade HQ, KnifeCenter, Lamnia, and OpticsPlanet, suggesting its production ceased around 2020.
